Material

100% French Linen

This garment has been crafted from 100% French Linen, a natural fibre from flax grown in the northern regions of France. Linen is a light, breathable fabric that is durable and strong. It wrinkles easily which is part of its appeal, it is easy to care for and becomes softer with age and wear.

Flax is a highly productive crop requiring minimal water, herbicides or pesticides to grow, making it a better environmental choice than many other natural fibres, such as conventionally grown cotton.

Linen has a beautiful texture with knotted fibres called slubs. This is a feature of the fabric that occurs due to the fibre's natural properties, the weaving process creates a tactile look and feel.

This garment has a surface print and as the ink is applied to the linen, the natural slubs will move and may lift. This creates speckled variations in the print appearance which vary from garment to garment making each piece unique. Linen is beautiful to wear and becomes softer with age and over time the colour of the print will naturally fade over time.

Maker

This garment was designed in Melbourne by the ELK team and made by Tongxiang Jimmy Fashions in China. Jimmy has worked with us since 2010 making both woven and knitted apparel. Jimmy is actively working with us to make workplace improvements to ensure the factory is safe and compliant.

The factory is signed up to Sedex, and undertakes regular SMETA social compliance audits.

Size & Fit

These pants are a relaxed style but fit true to size, in the waist. The super wide leg is accentuated by the slightly dropped crotch, with the waist elastic able to be slightly adjusted with the built-in drawcord. Linen will also soften with wear.

Care Instructions

We recommend you wash your garment only when it is really needed. Airing regularly will reduce the need for washing. To wash, use cold water and either wash by hand or use a gentle cycle on your washing machine with an eco-friendly washing detergent.
