Material

100% French Linen

This garment has been crafted from 100% French Linen, a natural fibre from flax grown in the northern regions of France. Linen is a light, breathable fabric that is durable and strong. It wrinkles easily which is part of its appeal, it is easy to care for and becomes softer with age and wear.

Flax is a highly productive crop requiring minimal water, herbicides or pesticides to grow, making it a better environmental choice than many other natural fibres, such as conventionally grown cotton.

Linen has a beautiful texture with knotted fibres called slubs. This is a feature of the fabric that occurs due to the fibre's natural properties, the weaving process creates a tactile look and feel.

This garment has a surface print and as the ink is applied to the linen, the natural slubs will move and may lift. This creates speckled variations in the print appearance which vary from garment to garment making each piece unique. Maker

This garment was designed in Melbourne by the ELK team and made by Tongxiang Jimmy Fashions in China. Jimmy has worked with us since 2010 making both woven and knitted apparel. Jimmy is actively working with us to make workplace improvements to ensure the factory is safe and compliant.

The factory is signed up to Sedex, and undertakes regular SMETA social compliance audits.

Size & Fit

This top has a slightly relaxed fit, so those who prefer a neater fit could choose to go down a size - but check the length measurement for the best fit. The sleeve is turned under and secured into the shoulder seam. Linen relaxes and softens with wear.
