 The Vester Platform is a statement, platform sandal which adds a playful edge to any outfit. The plaited straps are made from a soft, durable fabric with each style slightly unique, while the colours will play off the exaggerated, knife-edge style rubber sole. These sandals are an ideal counterpart to a printed summer dress for adding a textural point of interest to your outfit.

Material

Main: 100% Polyester
Contrast: Cow Leather

This platform style is made using a mix of materials, with a striped fabric upper in 100% Polyester, a soft 100% Cow Leather strap and TPR sole.

Leather is a natural, renewable material made from animal hides that have been preserved and softened through a tanning process. We select our leathers based on their individual properties and the intended application.

Leather lasts a long time, ages well and is easy to care for and repair. Unlike many synthetic materials, leather develops patina over time and gets better with age. Buying a well-made leather product can be considered an investment and supports the slow fashion ethos of “buying less, buying better”. Leather can be recycled or upcycled, and once it reaches the end of its lifecycle it is biodegradable.

This product is made from leather sourced from a Leather Working Group (LWG) audited and rated tannery. LWG aims to improve the environmental impact of the leather industry by assessing and certifying leather manufacturers. The audit protocol covers energy use, waste, water use and chemicals, as well as traceability.

Chromium VI is not used in any tanning processes for our leathers.

TPR is a thermoplastic rubber that results in a durable sole with moderate grip.

Maker

These shoes have been handmade in Agra, India by family-owned and operated factory Gupta Overseas Pty Ltd. They have been in business for over 60 years and specialise in making shoes for the European market. We visit the factory twice a year to see our products being made, assess working conditions, source materials and learn new techniques. With a commitment to responsible business practices and a culture of continuous improvement, Gupta has implemented some outstanding initiatives to support their employees, community and the environment.

Each design is tested at ELK HQ where the shoes are worn for a period to consider comfort, wear and style. The leather upper meets European REACH standards for chemical safety.

Gupta has SA8000 social accountability certification and as members of Sedex undergo annual SMETA social compliance audits, to ensure safe and ethical work practices.

These sandals fit true to size, with a comfortable platform sole and an adjustable ankle strap for added comfort and versatility.

Care Instructions

These leather shoes should be cleaned and conditioned with a neutral cream polish. Apply with a soft cloth and rub into dry or scuffed areas. Leather is a natural material and will age with wear. It is imperative that you avoid wetting or soaking these shoes in water as this will greatly affect the quality and appearance.
